Position Overview
The Lead Editor is a position within the Curriculum department at ALO7. The main duties involve leading and guiding projects involving content creation and editing in multiple formats, covering both print and digital media. The content is intended for use by young English language learners and their teachers and parents, both in the classroom and at home. The Lead Editor will be detail-focused, self-motivated, educationally-minded, and an effective communicator.
Duties and Responsibilities
1.Lead and contribute to concurrent projects according to production schedules.
2.Communicate with internal staff, virtual teams, and external vendors.
3.Help to develop internal procedures to improve efficiency and communication.
4.Content edit, copy edit and proofread at all stages of digital and print textbook, workbook, and supplementary materials production including raw contents, manuscripts, sketches, images, layout design, animation, and audio.
5.Provide clear and concise feedback in English and/or Chinese using standard and in-house software and file formats, including Word, Excel, PDF, still image, animation, and audio files.
6.Provide publishing, editing, English language learning, and content creation guidance to the curriculum development and editorial teams.
7.Check content in development to assess consistency and appropriate difficulty level according to Scope and Sequence and various standards.
8.Write, copy edit, and proofread other digital and print educational materials including passages, audio scripts, and exercises.
9.Identify, request, and provide feedback on illustrations and photographs for use in English language learning.
10.May coordinate and maintain production schedules.
11.May contribute to the development of learning applications and games for print, tablet, PC, and interactive whiteboard use.
12.May contribute to the building of the company brand and its characters through the editing or writing
marketing, educational, fiction, and nonfiction materials as needed.
