The TEOSOL™ Program of CITA

TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. If you haven’t heard of TEFL before, then you might have heard of some of the other acronyms that it goes by. ESL Teaching (Teaching English as a Second Language), TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) or ELT (English Language Teaching).

Besides an acronym, TEFL also represents one of the fastest-growing education sectors in the world. In fact, David Crystal OBE, claims that over 2 billion people speak English worldwide. It’s also estimated that 1 billion people are actively studying in English schools from Argentina to Vietnam, from the United Kingdom to the United States. For learners worldwide, TEFL represents the chance to speak the world’s language. For teachers, TEFL represents the opportunity to live and work almost anywhere in the world and enjoy a rewarding career.

Online learning has shown significant growth over the last decade, as the internet and education combine to provide people with the opportunity to gain new skills. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, online learning has become more centric in people's lives. The pandemic has forced schools, universities, and companies to remote working and this booms the usage of online learning. (The Rise of Online Learning, Forbes)

Online teaching offers a more demanding situation from every perspective of the game, it involves applications of modern education tech, it puts you on a small screen and requires you to compete with video games, it doesn't make it easier when it comes to the traditional knowledge of TEFL/TESOL. Don't panic, with 12 years of international teaching experience and leading international online teaching knowledge, the California International Teachers Association has proudly launched their TEOSOL™ (Teaching English Online To Speakers of Other Languages) Program with a goal to help TEFL teachers become the most successful online English teachers around the world!
